“KOLIADA AND PLES …since time immemorial…” — an event that can turn your idea of Christmas upside down and change each and every one of us!
This is not just a theatre performance. It is a grand, high-energy spectacle and a mystical explosion of ancient Ukrainian traditions. Since its premiere on 25 December 2019, directed by Rostyslav Derzhypilskyi, it has been playing to sold-out audiences. From the very first second, this show captivates with its raw, authentic energy, sacred grandeur and striking visual scale.
🎭 A stellar cast
The stage brings together leading theatre actors whose extraordinary charisma, comic talent and dramatic intensity keep audiences completely spellbound:
-
Oleksii Hnatkovskyi, star of the historical action film “Dovbush”, appears as the mystical Seer, your principal guide into the mysterious world of ancient rituals. His monumental voice and magnetic energy hold the audience spellbound from the first moment to the last.
-
Myroslava Polataiko, a Merited Artist of Ukraine, wins hearts at first sight as Marichka, a Hutsul woman. Her colourful humour, sparkling jokes, lines about an “open chakra” and remarkable authenticity offer a theatrical delight all their own — and bring the house down!
-
Roman Lutskyi, Nadiia Levchenko, Ivan Blindar and the very best of contemporary Ukrainian theatre.
⚡️ What awaits you:
-
Hutsul character and humour: Unbridled energy, the living local dialect and the vivid dynamic between a Hutsul couple — guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.
-
The magic of the Carpathian ples: The energy of ritual dances and incantations from the very heart of the mountains — powerful enough to make the earth tremble and take your breath away.
-
All of Ukraine on one stage: A musical universe spanning the country, from rare, miraculously preserved traditional chants to world-famous Christmas masterpieces.
This is a performance that will bring you to tears with its beauty, make you laugh until you cry with its rich humour, and invite you to reflect on the eternal. A musical drama that speaks the language of the soul — a language understood by everyone, everywhere in the world.
Get your tickets to the ultimate Christmas event! Feel the power that brings a nation together.
